Although Tottenham Hotspur did receive a few transfer offers for the starting left back and there was some speculation that the Italian international could be moved for the right offer, manager Roberto De Zerbi quickly put a stop to the rumors, committing to Destiny Udogie and relaying to reporters that Udogie is his key man at the position despite the additions of prospect Souza and Premier League legend Andy Robertson in recent transfer windows.

Udogie showed twice on the pitch this season already that he makes Spurs better as an attack, but after being named a late scratch again vs. Everton just when he seemed to finally be returning to fitness after months of bouncing in and out of the lineup with various injuries, Spurs supporters realized why they were so nervous after the sale of England World Cup hero Djed Spence to Inter Milan.

While Udogie is a great Premier League left back and certainly the best attacking option for Tottenham at the position, the fact that Spurs can never rely on him to be consistently healthy is a massive problem. It destroys the momentum of their squad, and Spurs just cannot get into a rhythm as an entire unit when one of their crucial starters can't be counted on most weeks.

Destiny Udogie is a week-to-week player now

Destiny Udogie should not be out for too long with this latest aillment, but that's the thing about the former Udinese man: you just never know when he is going to be out and when he is going to come back. He is constantly a week to week player, and not having Udogie bit Tottenham again.

Andy Robertson actually played well against his old rivals Everton, but you could see that the left winger, either Omar Marmoush or Mathys Tel later on in the game against the Toffees, missed having a more aggressive overlapper and a superior passer and crosser in Udogie.

Although Udogie is far from a perfect left back and has his own issues to work on, including the precision of his crosses and the timing of his passes into the final third, he is certainly the best option Tottenham Hotspur have. And his injury issues continue to weigh heavily on Spurs ability to perform to their highest potential as a team, including this past weekend with another scoreless draw in the Premier League. It's anyone's guess as to when Udogie will be able to get a steady run of games.
