Even though some members of the media attempted blatant revisionism with deposed Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy, Spurs supporters never took the debate. There was no missing Levy, whose dismissal had nothing to do with the incompetence and cowardice displayed by VInai Venkatesham and Johan Lange during the 2025/26 Premier League season and winter transfer window.

Levy was a dreadful corporate ghoul who tried to monger capital in the worst private equity way, and he was solely responsible for years of malaise at the club. But he had plenty of enablers, too, including the massively overrated Fabio Paratici - a man Spurs fans once praised but quickly saw past as a selfish, cheating executive who ran Juventus into the ground and nearly did the same for Tottenham with the shocking recruitment of overrated retread players.

Paratici and Levy oversaw back to back 17th placed seasons for Tottenham Hotspur, and under Levy, everyone saw how Spurs shied away from rivaling any other major club in the transfer market, constantly missing out on targets that could get them to compete for titles - hence why Spurs have been stuck in 17th.

Fabio Paratici was a fraud, too

Now with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici gone and Roberto De Zerbi essentially running the show, Tottenham are showing a hundred times more ambition on the transfer market, having just closed big money deals for three established Premier League starters in Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes.

In a new piece for The Athletic, Mark Critchley writes that as an organization, Tottenham are delighted by the Fernandes and Tonali blockbuster signings over the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City. And behind the scenes, those in the building at N17 believe they have a more clear and overall better recruitment process than they did under Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham fans have been saying for years that the club was doing a terrible job of identifying, signing, and closing deals for true top players. Remembe the Desire Doue debacle? Spurs constantly would get sub level targets that the top clubs did not want for a reason, like Dominic Solanke or Rodrigo Bentancur, and then true future superstars would go elsewhere.

Now, with the albatross of Levy gone and the overrated Paratici signing such luminaries as Manor Solomon for Fiorentina, Tottenham are actually signing potential world class players at the level of a Premier League Big Six side.
