Lots of things change in football. Lots of things change very fast in football. One thing that doesn't change, however - rumours. Rumours, rumours, rumours. There are so many in football, and Spurs - both in terms of incomings and outgoings - are no exception to that rule.

Although we are firmly between two transfer windows, the rumours just do not appear to be stopping. Given groundwork is often done before windows start, and that fees can be agreed in advance, it is little surprise that rumours continue - though the sheer volume of them appear to go up and up every year.

The latest example is Sunderland's teenage starlet Chris Rigg - who is, as per journalist Jacob Steinberg, being tracked by Spurs, as well as fellow London side West Ham United, who are lining up a possible move for the player.

Spurs show an interest in signing Chris Rigg from Sunderland

So far this season, and in recent times, Sunderland have developed plenty of exciting young players. The one you may be most familiar with is Jude Bellingham's younger brother, Jobe, who signed from Birmingham in 2023, and has gone onto become a regular fixture in a Sunderland side pushing for promotion, as well as for England U21s.

Another youngster (ish) that is part of this Sunderland side that currently sit in fourth place in the Championship is former Spurs academy player Dennis Cirkin, who left the club to join the Black Cats back in 2021, and has since made over 100 league appearances for the club, despite not turning 23 until next week.

Despite being just 17 years of age, Rigg has played in 35 Championship games this season, and has started 30 of those. He has featured as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, and even as a second striker.

He has also featured for England U19s this season, and featured along side Mikey Moore during the recent international break, with the Spurs youngster assisting Rigg for the only goal of the game during a win over Portugal.

Spurs do need experienced players, absolutely, and they already have plenty of very talented young players - with five teenagers either at the club - or on loan - listed in GOAL's top 50 teenagers. However, Rigg is a seriously, seriously talented player himself - and was came in at 29 on that aforementioned list of teenagers. He is not a player that should be dismissed.
