According to a report from German publication Sky Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson.
It was only last year that he joined Frankfurt from Malmo, and his performances in Germany since have not gone unnoticed. He is capable of playing as a holding midfielder or as a box to box option.
As for international experience, – Larsson already has nine caps for the Sweden national team. He would be the third Swedish player at the club, after Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall. It was very recently where Bergvall was being helped to settle in by Kulusevski – perhaps it will be his turn to do the helping this time.
Having two compatriots and Swedish speakers alongside him would be a big tick in the box in terms of helping him settle into life in N17, should he potentially join the club. Larsson is just 20-years old – though that is two years older than Bergvall, just to put into perspective how young Spurs’ number 15 still is.
Frankfurt are having a good season in the Bundesliga, as they currently sit third in the league. They are one of just two teams to have forced Bayern into dropping points, having played out a thrilling 3-3 draw just before the October international break.
As for value, having only signed for the club last summer, Larsson does have a contract with the German side, so there really is no pressure to sell on their end. Frankfurt are in this seasons Europa League, so we there is the possibility of locking horns with Larsson this season. They currently sit 6th in the league phase, four places behind Spurs. The midfielder scored the winner in their 1-0 win over Latvian side RFS last time out.
Despite his age, Larsson is an imposing figure, standing at 6’2, with still time to grow even further. He could add some height to help Spurs with their set piece issues. That too, and as good as the midfield currently is, there is not much height in there as it stands.
During the winter break last season, German outlet Kicker described Larsson as a 10/10 signing, putting his name alongside the likes of Alejandro Grimaldo, Omar Marmoush, Victor Boniface, and Harry Kane.
Last season, Larsson played 1885 Bundesliga minutes (note, four fewer games in Germany), showing good durability and quick adaption to the top five leagues, whilst still a teenager for the entire campaign.
