Although the goals have not come naturally, Alejo Veliz is enjoying plenty of game time at RCD Espanyol in La Liga this season. In the second half of last season, Veliz only played 31 minutes of action on loan at Sevilla. So far this season, he already has racked up 457 minutes for the Catalonia based club.

The young strikers development is not the only thing at Espanyol that Spurs have been keeping an eye on, it would seem. That is according to a report from FootballTransfers, who state that Javi Puado has caught the clubs eye when watching Espanyol vs Rayo Vallecano at the end of August.

Puado scored a brace against Real Oviedo to ensure Espanyol were promoted back to the top flight at the first time of asking. He has scored 48 goals in 148 appearances for the club. The forward has impressed since that promotion, scored three goals in eight appearances so far this season, captaining the team whilst playing both as a striker and left-winger. Albeit, all of his three goals came in the same game.

Throughout his career, Puado has played as a left winger 87 times, a right winger 37 times, a second striker 27 times, and a centre-forward 17 times. His best record is naturally as a centre-forward, with seven goals in 17 games, but has an impressive 10 goals in 27 games when playing as a second striker too.

The 26-year old is out of contract in the summer of 2025, and has "piqued the curiosity of Tottenham", meaning he could well be available for a discount in January, should he show no signs of extending with Espanyol. He has not signed a contract extension since 2021. He will also be free to talk to other clubs in January with a view to a free transfer in the summer, so that is perhaps something Spurs will look to pursue.
