It has been officially confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur forwards, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, have been named in the Franc U21 squad for their upcoming games later on this month.

Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert named in latest France U21 squad

The France senior squad is stacked with talent and incredible depth, and the U21 squad is pretty similar too. Big names like Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt - Spurs' Europa League quarter final opponents - and Rayan Cherki and Lyon are a couple of players in this current squad.

Les Blues are set to take on England U21s - which may well include Spurs' Archie Gray - as well as Slovakia, in two friendlies ahead of the U21 Euros that will take place this summer. The game against England is at home, in Lorient, on Friday, the 21st March, whilst they will face Slovakia away from home on Monday, the 24th of March.

Thursday was a pretty perfect day for Odobert. In the afternoon, he received this call up, and in the evening, he scored a crucial brace for Spurs against AZ Alkmaar, to send them into the Europa League quarter-finals.

Not only did the winger score his first two goals for the club, but he also completed 5/8 ground duels, made one interception, and two tackles. Some have mentioned the mistake for the goal, but in truth that was probably more on Lucas Bergvall. Still, this isn't to have a go at the Sweden international either - who was absolutely sublime apart from that. It didn't matter one bit in the end, even if it made the crowd more nervous.

As for Tel, things have not gone quite as planned since his well taken goal at Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round. He was an unused sub in the win over Alkmaar, making it two games in a row he has not got off the bench, having also not done so in the draw against AFC Bournemouth. He was substituted at half-time in his last appearance - the first leg - where he replaced by Odobert himself.

Nevertheless, it is cool to see two Spurs players in the same international squad. They had played together before Tel came to North London, and he said that Odobert had spoken to him ahead of his move in February.

It would be great to see those two and Gray all on the pitch at the same time when the two sides meet next week. Let's see.
