The winter transfer window has closed, but it left behind memories of players who could have joined the club.
Tottenham continue to fight for dominance in the Premier League after a challenging season, as seen in their victory over Manchester United on Sunday.
Despite the win—and the fact that the player who scored the decisive goal secured the three points—James Maddison has found himself at the centre of debate, with some arguing that Ange Postecoglou should be giving him more playing time.
But returning to transfers, the recently closed window left a bitter taste for those hoping to see a Canadian defender join the club.
Fikayo Tomori says 'no' to Spurs

Last month, rumours suggested that Tottenham were tracking AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori.
Unfortunately, the club were unable to secure his signing, and now reports have emerged revealing why Tomori rejected Tottenham at the time.
Despite the North London club’s last-minute approach—following Radu Dragușin’s injury—sources in Italy claim the Canadian international turned down the offer because he did not want to leave Milan midway through the season.
However, reports suggest that Tomori never seriously considered leaving his club for Tottenham in the first place.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared the defender’s stance in a tweet: "I never planned to leave AC Milan, that’s very clear and simple. I'm just happy to be at this club and as long as they want me, I want to stay."

Tottenham still have top-quality defenders
With that, it became clear that Spurs and, Ange Postecoglou’s urgent attempt to reinforce the squad, would not get their wish.
Fikayo Tomori could have brought technique, ball dominance, and pace to the defence, making him a valuable asset at the back.
Moreover, the Canadian hadn’t been enjoying the best spell at Milan, as the defender has not been a guaranteed starter this season.
However, all is not lost, as Spurs still have key defensive figures such as Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and, hopefully soon, Radu Dragușin.
