Tottenham Hotspur are finally getting closer to the Savinho transfer fans have been waiting a year for, as Spurs initially showed interest in the Manchester City winger last summer but have been unable to convince the Citizens to sell. They haven't given their Big Six counterparts a transfer offer worth pondering over, while City both believe in Savinho's long term talent and still seem to want another winger to replace him despite barely playing the Brazilian last season - and also signing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in the winter transfer window.
But with Savinho increasingly pushing for a move to a Spurs side he has long been flirting with on social media, there is real progress being made behind the scenes, with Spurs getting closer to a 70 million euro transfer fee. Most Spurs fans have been hoping for Savinho, but once that 70 million euro fee was floated around, many fans, who had hoped to sign Savinho for closer to 50 million euros, have started to get cold feet.
When you think about it, though, Savinho for 70 million euros in this market is a great deal, because while players like Cristian Romero and Djed Spence are not going for much, the young talents at the forward positions with the potential to blow up into superstars are going for crazy money. Just look at how much Yan Diomande went for to Real Madrid despite only having one big season at the highest level. And even Luka Vuskovic after just one season costed Brighton significantly more than Romero will cost Atletico Madrid.
Savinho to Tottenham isn't a rip off by any means
Tottenham Hotspur only have to compare Savinho to one of their own recent forward transfers. Spurs bought Dominic Solanke for around 75 million euros when totaling up the add ons it took to bring him in from Bournemouth in 2024 after a career best season in which he had 19 goals.
Savinho is coming off a worse 2025/26 season than Solanke's 2023/24 campaign and isn't a striker, but he's also several years younger at 22. And he's had more good film than Solanke, who, before the 2023/24 season, was a giant bust at both Chelsea and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Savinho has been one of the biggest prospects on the wings in world football and a jewel of the Manchester City system. In that same 2023/24 season, he was so good that Girona were actual La Liga title contenders at one point, and Savinho was the biggest La Liga Player of the Season candidate not playing for Real Madrid - Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior were the top three.
So when you compare the fact that Dominic Solanke went for more money when you account for add ons, Savinho for 70 million euros on the wings at the age of 22 from a massive club like Manchester City looks like a pretty decent deal, all told.
