Tottenham Hotspur star attacker Dejan Kulusevski has been missing in action since the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season, and Spurs fans cannot wait to see him back in their lineup soon. Kulu was only supposed to be out with a knock at that time, but Spurs fans have since been permanently scarred from any "reassuring" injury updates in the future, as Kulu's ailment ended up being career threatening.
Slowly but surely, Kulusevski has found himself back on the field training, and fans noticed that he was right there with Omar Marmoush in the latter's debut on the practice field with Tottenham ahead of the weekend clash against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Roberto De Zerbi also gave a positive injury update on Kulusevski, telling reporters ahead of the match against the Magpies, which Spurs would end up losing 2-0, via Hotspur Lane, “Kulusevski is great news, first of all for the human aspect, because he’s suffered too much. And then because he’s a different player he’s a special player. He’s improving, he’s amazing and I need to say the medical staff this season is very good.”

That is not only the second time that De Zerbi has recently given a positive injury update on Dejan Kulusevski, but it is also the second time that the Italian manager has referred to his injured right winger as a "special player". Also, it was good to hear positive words for the medical staff, who have come under fire in recent seasons and has been a focal area of concern for Vinai Venkatesham and the very top of Tottenham club leadership to address this summer.
Tottenham fans are just itching to see Kulusevski back on the pitch, and while the 26 year old is still some time away from actually returning to games for the Lilywhites, the fact that he is on the right track and getting great updates from Roberto De Zerbi is massive for Spurs and a fan base that was truly mentally prepared at one point to never see Kulu on the field again.
As De Zerbi said, the human element is crucial here. Kulusevski has been a key player and leader for years, and Tottenham need characters like that on the pitch, especially with how much losing has been going on at N17, including to start this season. Kulu's return can't come soon enough for many, but they would much rather not risk any further issues here.
