As Tottenham Hotspur continue their preseason action after clean sheet wins over MK Dons and Auckland FC, the Spurs faithful are excited to see new star midfielder Sandro Tonali in action. The Italian international was a major 100 million pound investment by the club and has the quality to be world class, having already played at that level a few years ago before joining Newcastle United when he helped lead AC Milaln to the Serie A title.
Tonali's start to life at Tottenahm has been a tad slow out of the gate, as he has been suffering from a minor injury. But that is about to be resolved now, as De Zerbi reveals that he will be ready to go against Sydney FC in the third preseason game after missing out on the action against Auckland.
Per De Zerbi, via Hotspur Lane, Sandro Tonali had a "small issue", though the coach did not specify the nature of the injury, that kept him out but will likely be back in the action for the next one.

Whlie it is only the preseason and the injury to Tonali was never going to be a serious one, Tottenham Hotspur fans have learned to take any little nugget seriously. Dejan Kulusevski was only supposed to miss a game or two, and then he almost lost his career to a knee injury. Everyone thought Mohammed Kudus would only be out for week, then he missed the rest of the season. Rodrigo Bentancur picked up a knock that would not lead to a missed match, then suddenly he had a three month hamstring tear.
You get the point. Any small reassurance or confirmation from the head coach on a star player is a big deal and a cause for a sigh of relief, though Tottenham Hotspur supporters obviously have been burned too many times to rest until they see Tonali out there.
With just one month left until the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season, Spurs fans are anxious to see the new stars like Tonali out there, and they cannot wait to see which star forwards the club signs so that the likes of Tonali and fellow new midfield signing Mateus Fernandes can hook with them and set the table for more goals next season. But goodness knows, Tottenham can't keep missing out on the top five with fans like Aston Villa's claiming they are no longer in the Big Six.
