Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has a ton of pull behind the scenes now. Already, Spurs gave him quite a bit of power on paper when they hired him in free agency to take over the club immediately at a time when Premire League safety was far from a guarantee - and even looked unlikely following that 3-0 debacle to Nottingham Forest.
But De Zerbi successfully saved Spurs, and now he is looking towards to the future to help build the new era of the club. His first order of business appears to be keeping Joao Palhinha permanently on his loan deal from Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich, and he also appears to be very much on board with signing young winger Savinho from Manchester City this summer.
There are more moves that need to be made, but it is also important for Tottenham to avoid losing any current stars who have a lot to give in the future. Pedro Porro is a key leader and starter for Spurs with no real alternative at right back, but after greatly upping his performances en route to Spurs saving themselves from relegation, the Spanish international has reaffirmed himself as one of the most coveted right backs in world football.
Pedro Porro isn't going anywhere
Amidst Real Madrid links, though, it appears Tottenham Hotspur are not going to give in and lose the former Sporting CP gem. According to reporting from Fabrizio Romano, via Spurs Global, Tottenham do not even want to entertain the idea of selling the 26 year old. Per Fab, Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear to everyone that Pedro Porro is crucial to his future plans, so Spurs have slammed the door shut on any potential move this summer.
That is relieving news for Tottenham fans who were watching the swirling rumors and the fact that a club as massive, wounded, and wanting Spanish stars as Real Madrid were being linked on multiple occasions to Porro. And then, of course, there was Enzo Maresca and Manchester City badly wanting to go back in for the man they missed out on to Spurs years ago.
Porro is cinched in as a crucial starter at right back for Tottenham, capable of creating chances, winning the ball, and progressing play for Spurs. There are weaknesses and consistency issues for him to iron out, but that is a task De Zerbi 100 percent wants to sink his teeth into personally.
