The 21 year old Tottenham Hotspur center midfielder prospect Jamie Donley spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Stoke City and then Oxford United in the third tier of English football, playing 16 games for the latter and impressing with his heart and quality in a box to box role.
Tottenham have overhauled their midfield this summer transfer window with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes coming in as immediate starters, but with Lucas Bergvall still begging for a move out and hotly tracked by Nottingham Forest (and likely Newcastle United), Spurs do have room for another prospect to shine.
Donley is not quite at the level of the first team, but he is one of a handful of promising homegrown Tottenham midfield prospects witih the characteristics that the club and the supporters look for - someone who will fight for the badge.

And the Northern Ireland international, with eight senior caps to his name, is already making an impression on Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi in his first offseason at the helm of the club.
According to a report from Alasdair Gold of Football.London, Jamie Donley has very much impressed De Zerbi in the preseason training sessions this summer. As such, De Zerbi is going to reward the U23 midfielder, and he has a good chance of taking on the preseason friendly tour with the other Spurs players in Australia and New Zealand.
Now, that does not mean Donley is in contention for the first team or for anything else other than another loan deal to another smaller club in English football, but it does mean that Roberto De Zerbi likes what he sees and may keep giving Donley more time to prove that he can be in the future plans of Tottenham.
Although Donley is not taking Lucas Bergvall's first team spot any time soon, the impending exit of the Swedish international means the long term squad planning and overall calculus of Spurs changes, leaving the door open for more prospects from the academy to make their way into the first team in the future or at least have a fighting chance.
Donley is doing all the right things in his power to put himself on De Zerbi's radar, and while some fans will be skeptical of his quality, there are many others who are going to want to see Donley get a chance and will root for someone with his character.
