Richarlison quietly takes up Tottenham responsibility no one else wants

Against Monaco, one of Tottenham's standout players was Richarlison. But you'd be forgiven for not realizing, considering how quiet he went about his business.

Love him or hate him, nobody can deny that Richarlison cares about Tottenham. Sure, he might make some questionable decisions on the ball, but he wants to be the best player at Hotspur Way. That desire has to count for something.

It's not just Richarlison's work on the ball which stands out to Tottenham fans. In fact, it's his work off the ball that's arguably more impressive. He is a nuisance to other players, and that was yet again put on display tonight.

Richarlison was s physical as ever during Monaco vs Tottenham

Against Monaco, Richarlison proved that his high-pressure style of play wasn't only limited to the Premier League. He was constantly breathing down the necks of Monaco defender, hardly giving them a second to even think.

Come the end of the match, Richarlison attempted an impressive seven duels. Sure, he only won three of them, but the effort was there from the Brazilian. Alongside the duels, Richarlison completed to three defensive contributions (the most of any Tottenham attacker), including two tackles and one ball recovery.

All in all, it was a grand effort from Richarlison. As Thomas Frank looks to build some defensive solidity, he will rely on players from all over the pitch. Any help he can get from his attackers will be most appreciated.

Tottenham kept a clean sheet away from home. While they would have liked to win that game, there were threats from Monaco too. All things considered, they can hardly stick their noses up at a Champions League draw.

Tottenham now sits 15th in the Champions League table, and they are yet to lose a game in the competition. This, currently, puts them into a qualification playoff place, so that's not bad considering many doubted their conviction in this competition.

Was Richarlison the best player in a Tottenham jersey tonight? No, and he probably won't claim to have been either. However, his role of pressurising the Monaco attackers clearly worked, as Tottenham were the dominant attacking team.
