Report: Tottenham ready to sign £50 million-rated Aston Villa star
Tottenham remain interested in signing Aston Villa superstar for £50 million but will face competition from Arsenal and Newcastle United, according to reports.
Tottenham's interest in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey appears far from over, with reports hinting that the North London club might renew their pursuit of the talented midfielder next summer.
Despite previous unsuccessful attempts to sign the 23-year-old, Spurs are reportedly gearing up for another go in 2025.
Last summer, Tottenham tried to bring Ramsey to their ranks by offering Giovanni Lo Celso plus £20 million as part of a deal.
However, Aston Villa turned down that proposal, leading Lo Celso to make his way back to Real Betis eventually. Ramsey stayed at Villa Park, where he has only started three games so far this season.
Aston Villa's need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations had been seen as an opportunity for Spurs to strike a deal, but the Midlands club held firm.

Now, new rumours from GiveMeSport suggest that Unai Emery's side may be more open to letting Ramsey go next summer to capitalise on his value before his contract expires in 2027. The price tag? A reported £50 million.
The competition for Ramsey's signature is heating up, with Newcastle and Arsenal also showing interest. His status as a homegrown player makes him an appealing prospect for all three clubs, who are keen on boosting their midfield options.
However, Spurs’ situation has evolved since their initial chase for Ramsey. The arrival of Lucas Bergvall, a highly-rated young midfielder signed in January for £8.5 million, has changed the landscape at Hotspur Way.
Although Bergvall is just 18 and lacks extensive experience in top-flight European football, reports suggest that he’s already impressed manager Ange Postecoglou during pre-season.
The young Swede could well be the answer to Spurs’ creative needs, potentially diminishing their urgency to bring in another attacking midfielder like Ramsey.
While an understudy to James Maddison would have been ideal last season, especially given Lo Celso’s inconsistent availability, Ramsey’s profile may no longer be the perfect fit for Tottenham’s evolving squad.
