Tottenham Hotspur secured their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, but it was far from an easy ride. After a tense battle against Coventry City in the third round, Spurs narrowly avoided an upset with a late comeback, winning 2-1.

Despite the victory, questions remain about the depth of the squad, as Ange Postecoglou's men struggled against lower-league opposition. Now, with the fourth-round draw fast approaching, Spurs are looking ahead to their next challenge in the competition.

The draw for the Carabao Cup’s fourth round is set for Wednesday, September 25, 2024, immediately after the third-round match between Liverpool and West Ham. Fans can tune in to Sky Sports Football or Sky Sports Main Event at 10:15 pm BST to watch the live draw, which will reveal who Spurs and other teams will face next.

The fourth-round fixtures are scheduled to be played in the week starting October 28, giving teams just over a month to prepare.

Who are Tottenham’s next opponents in the Carabao Cup?

Tottenham’s third-round victory over Coventry was anything but straightforward. Postecoglou rotated his squad, resting key players such as Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, and Heung-min Son, presumably to keep them fresh for Premier League action.

Despite fielding a weakened side, Spurs were expected to dominate their Championship opponents. However, after going 1-0 down just past the hour mark, the match seemed to be slipping away. It took two late goals from substitutes Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson in the 88th and 92nd minutes to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

With the fourth round looming, Tottenham could face any of the other teams already through, including Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Brighton from the Premier League. Championship sides Stoke City, Preston North End, and Sheffield Wednesday have also advanced, while several third-round ties are still to be played.

Tuesday’s fixtures include Chelsea vs Barrow, Manchester City hosting Watford, and Aston Villa travelling to Wycombe Wanderers. Arsenal are also in action on Wednesday, hosting Bolton Wanderers, while Liverpool and West Ham compete for the final spot in the next round.
