Tottenham transfer update as defender 'considers' leaving
Spurs were in desperate need of defensive support this past season with the exit of Eric Dier and long-term injury of Micky van de Ven.
Looking to Italy to fill that need, Spurs scooped up the 22-year-old Romanian talent Radu Dragusin for a hefty €25.00m (Transfermarkt).
However, despite the high fee, the player's bright future, and Tottenham's countless defensive struggles throughout the season, Dragusin only made it out onto the pitch for nine of the 18 games he was available for since joining Spurs in January (Transfermarkt).
Among those matches, he only started four times.
Perhaps due to the lack of minutes, it is now understood by Area Napoli that the player "would consider a return to Italy even if only on a temporary basis to get back into the game" (via The Hard Tackle).
The news is surprising given how recently he joined the North London club, yet not so when considering the lack of minutes.
Ange and Tottenham's recruitment staff under Technical Director Johan Lange have been seemingly intentional in their transfer market spending over the past months, and one could reasonably assume the same was true with their onboarding of Dragusin.
The club clearly saw something in the former Genoa footballer, but whether or not they'll get to utilize his abilities could be up to the player and his own decisions regarding his contract, across the coming months.
