Tottenham star discusses retirement plans, reaffirms future intentions

Sonny has made it clear that once his playing career on the pitch is over, he will enjoy life outside of football.
In an interview published Monday with Harper's Bazaar Korea, Son reiterated his firm stance on his future, affirming that his previous statement about not returning to the sport to coach remains unchanged.
"That feeling will never change. It's a promise I've made to myself and a decision that's already been made," he stated.
While we don't know the specifics, maybe this willingness originally stems from his dad, who implemented a strict approach in wanting to raise his son clearly and with principles to bring him where he is today.
"I love playing football, but I don't have the ability to teach others"
- Son Heung Min
It is well known in South Korea that Son is generally "scandal-free." In a country where celebrities are often sometimes caught in scandals whether it could be bullying someone or anything negative about their past, Son has been free from it all.
Not just that, but Son has been so focused on his football that he has publicly declared he will not get married until retirement.
While players are out there on the pitch after the game with their wife and kids, you usually see Sonny embracing his teammates family with one missing thing: his own.
"I want to make sure that while I play at the top level, football can be number one. You don’t know how long you can play at the top level. When you retire, or when you are 33 or 34, you can still have a long life with your family
- Son Heung Min
"
This topic is something that is often talked about in South Korea, yet not in London.
In a world that is currently obsessed with self-gratification and the abundance that you can buy with money, it is not often that a player will give up so much just to focus on his craft.
Tottenham fans are lucky to have this player on their team, and it will be beautiful to see Son post-career, enjoying the fruits of his labor.
In the meantime, the important thing is to enjoy him while we have him.
