Tottenham star accused of pressuring Spurs board to get better contract
By Manuel Meza
Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has recently found himself at the centre of transfer speculation, with claims that his agent is attempting to leverage interest from other clubs to secure a more lucrative contract for his client.
Since joining Spurs from Empoli last summer, Vicario has rapidly established himself as one of the standout performers in the squad.
Despite experiencing some recent struggles, particularly with set pieces, an area that opposing teams have begun to exploit, Vicario has retained his position as Tottenham's undisputed number one.
His contributions have been vital, often keeping Spurs in matches where defensive frailties have otherwise prevailed. However, reports suggest that Vicario's impressive performances have attracted attention from Inter Milan, who are reportedly preparing a bid in the region of £25 million.
Former Tottenham scout Bryan King has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that the speculation linking Vicario to a move to Inter may not be as serious as it seems.

Instead, King believes these reports could be a tactical move by Vicario's agent to stir up interest and apply pressure on the Tottenham board to renegotiate terms:
"I think this is his agent stirring up a little bit of interest. Perhaps that is because Vicario is looking for another contract with Tottenham."
It’s pretty standard for players’ agents to look for ways to improve their clients’ contracts, but the timing of this chatter is a bit suspect, especially given that Vicario’s deal with Spurs runs until 2028.
This lengthy contract indicates that the club likely are not keen to talk about a renewal so soon, especially since Vicario is still finding his feet in the Premier League after just one season.
Tottenham signed Vicario as a long-term replacement for the departing Hugo Lloris, aiming to build a solid foundation in goal for years to come.
