Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly setting their sights on Galatasaray’s talented winger, Barris Alper Yilmaz. The 24-year-old Turkish international has been making waves in the footballing world with his impressive performances, and Spurs are keen to secure his signature.

However, they will face stiff competition from fellow Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, who are rumoured to be preparing a bid of around €25 million for the dynamic winger.

Yilmaz enjoyed a standout season with Galatasaray last year, notching up an impressive seven goals and 12 assists across all competitions. His ability to influence games from the flanks has certainly caught the attention of scouts from various clubs.

So far this season, he has continued to impress, scoring four goals and providing an assist in just nine matches.

Despite Tottenham’s interest, it’s worth noting that the North London club is already well-stocked in the wide positions. With established players like Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and the ever-reliable Son Heung-min, the addition of another winger may seem somewhat unexpected.

Given their current squad depth, it would be surprising if Spurs prioritised a transfer for Yilmaz over addressing other pressing needs, particularly in midfield and defence.

Moreover, the prospect of regular playing time could weigh heavily on Yilmaz’s decision. At Brighton, he would likely find a more immediate path to first-team action, which is crucial at this stage in his career.

Competing for a starting position at Tottenham would be a formidable challenge, considering the quality of wingers already in the squad. For a player looking to build on his recent successes, the chance to play consistently could prove to be a decisive factor.

Manager Ange Postecoglou must weigh the benefits of adding Yilmaz against the necessity of shoring up the squad in other areas, especially if they aim to challenge for honours this season.
