Tottenham ready to increase interest in notable Premier League defender
Entering the 2023/24 season, Tottenham knew they needed to reinforce their defense if they wanted to improve. That's how Micky van de Ven arrived from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023 and then Radu Dragusin in this year's winter transfer window from Genoa.
The defense is a key area for Spurs, who already have a terrific duo with Christian Romero and the aforementioned van de Ven. Yet, they're still trying to reinforce this area for the present and future. Despite having young standouts like Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington excelling, Tottenham have reportedly identified a potential center-back reinforcement.
According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Ange Postecoglou's side is expected to increase its interest in Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, whose contract is set to expire in June.
After returning from injury in November, the 26-year-old has thrived with the Cottagers. Tottenham saw it firsthand when Fulham's dismantled them before the international break last month. Adarabioyo has been an integral part of that defense and the North Londoners now want him on their side.
Gold adds that the player would be open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a year after Fulham refused to let him go. The Greater London team is about to lose a key player for nothing and that could be the most appealing factor to pursue this move for Daniel Levy and the front office.
The competition will be fierce with the likes of Romero, Van de Ven, and Dragusin on the roster, but Adarabioyo was a player of interest for Ange Postecoglou last summer, meaning he'll be in consideration to play games.
It's still early to say if he'll arrive at N17, but this appears to be an exciting option for Tottenham. In 16 Premier League games this season, the Englishman has scored two goals and only gotten booked once. Perhaps the competition will be hard, but this one can make some noise with the Spurs.
