Tottenham player up for award, competing with Man City and Liverpool stars
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has found himself in the spotlight for his exceptional strike against Everton, which has earned him a nomination for the BBC Match of the Day Goal of the Month award.
The goal came in Tottenham's match against Everton, a fixture that was eagerly anticipated by Spurs fans, not least because Bissouma was returning from a one-match suspension. The 27-year-old had faced criticism following his suspension, but he responded in the best way possible—with a goal that will be remembered for its sheer quality and timing.
The move that led to Bissouma's goal was a perfect example of the fluid, attacking football that manager Ange Postecoglou has been trying to instill in the team. The play began on the right flank, where Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro combined to create space.
The ball then found its way to Dejan Kulusevski, who showed his class by dancing past a couple of Everton defenders inside the box before laying it off to Bissouma. Positioned just outside the penalty area, Bissouma unleashed a thunderous strike that ricocheted off the crossbar and into the back of the net, leaving Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with no chance.
