Tottenham have not completed its tasks in the current summer transfer window, and now, according to a report from Foot Mercato, they are considering signing a young star from Ligue 1 who is currently shining at the Olympics.

According to the cited source, Tottenham Hotspur is looking at acquiring Amir Richardson, a young midfielder who currently plays for Stade de Reims.

Richardson is 22 years old and is primarily known for his physical and technical qualities, leading French football experts and observers to compare him to Paul Pogba.

To be more specific, what is Amir Richardson's profile? The Moroccan midfielder can play as a defensive midfielder, that is, as a pivot, but he can also function as a box-to-box midfielder.

It is clear that Tottenham is searching for a midfielder. In recent weeks and even months, we have seen rumors about the Spurs’ interest in players such as Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, who now seems set to join Atlético de Madrid, or Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, who apparently is out of Tottenham's reach.

Following the signings of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, Tottenham seems to have set its sights on this standout Moroccan player from France.

Foot Mercato also explains that Spurs' coach, Ange Postecoglou, might consider Archie Gray as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and could seek a new right-back to serve as a backup to Pedro Porro.

Why is this important to mention? During pre-season, various trials were conducted, and Archie Gray appears to be a viable option as a right-back, which could open the door for Tottenham to prioritize the signing of a midfielder.

From the perspective of a keen observer of Tottenham and the French league for many years, I can say that signing young, promising players from the French league is one of the best moves one can make. And if you don’t believe me, just ask Real Madrid.
