Tottenham are looking to invest heavily into their squad in the summer transfer window. After news broke this week that Ange Postecoglou would reject any advances from Liverpool to stick with Tottenham, it should come as no surprise that the board are willing to back the Aussie manager heading into the new campaign.

Recently, Tottenham have been linked to the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The Englishman has had a stellar breakout season with the Toffees, proving to be a key reason why they could remain in the Premier League next season, despite their point deduction.

Despite Branthwaite having a great season, it does not look likely he will remain at Everton. Instead, he could make the next step up in his career by joining a team who compete in the top half of the table and even challenge for European spots. Currently, he is linked with a move to Tottenham or Manchester United.

Why Tottenham fans should be excited by this Everton transfer activity

According to a report by English outlet The Mirror, Tottenham are prepared to lose Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, as they are chasing his replacement. It is reported that Everton are keeping tabs on Jacob Greaves of Hull City, as they seek a replacement for the departing Branthwaite.

There is still a long way for Tottenham to go, as they need to not only compete with Manchester United but also reach personal terms with the player and payment terms with Everton. Tottenham have excelled in their transfer negotiations in the past year, so fans should feel confident about this deal in its early stages.

Either way, the fact that Everton are already looking at replacements shows they have accepted their fate. This could only mean positive things for Spurs and should encourage Ange to pursue this deal - Not that he needed any more encouragement.
