Tottenham face big transfer decision in the coming days
By Manuel Meza
Tottenham Hotspur have a big decision to make about their seasoned defender, Ben Davies, as Galatasaray show serious interest in signing him. While the Turkish side is eager to bring the Welsh international on board, many Spurs fans think it's crucial to keep Davies.
John Wenham, a well-known Tottenham insider and host of the popular podcast Lilywhite Rose, has voiced strong opposition to the idea of selling Davies at this point in the season. Wenham argues that Davies’ experience and versatility make him an invaluable asset to the squad, particularly given the challenges posed by Tottenham’s busy fixture list, which includes both domestic and European commitments.
Davies, who joined Spurs from Swansea City in 2014, has built a reputation for being a reliable and consistent performer. His ability to play across multiple positions in the backline offers the team much-needed flexibility, especially when injuries or suspensions arise. Last season, despite making just 19 appearances, Davies frequently stepped up when called upon.

Wenham believes that selling Davies now would be a mistake, as it would leave Tottenham with a gap in their defensive options that couldn’t be addressed until the January transfer window. This could potentially disrupt the squad’s stability at a time when continuity is crucial for Postecoglou.
Tottenham’s fixture list is already proving to be a significant challenge, with the club aiming to compete on multiple fronts. In such a context, having a player like Davies, who understands the rigours of the Premier League and can seamlessly adapt to various roles, is invaluable. His leadership on and off the pitch also plays a key role in helping younger players develop and integrate into the first team.
Allowing Davies to depart at this stage would seriously thin out Tottenham’s defensive options and take away a steady, experienced presence that could be vital in those nail-biting moments later in the season. Although a move to Galatasaray might be appealing for Davies, Spurs should think twice before accepting any bids.
