Tottenham defender linked with Real Madrid

Reports coming out of Argentina are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is of interest to the Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Despite a successful league and Champions League double this year, Real Madrid have had some issues at center-half.
Eder Militao missed eight months of the season, from August-April with an ACL injury, meanwhile, David Alaba suffered the same fate in December and will miss the European Championships as a consequence.
Nacho, usually a utility player who fills in here and there for whichever part of the defence has an injury or suspension absence, played the most minutes he’s ever played in a league season, at the age of 33 and 34. He played 29 La Liga games, starting 18 (SofaScore).
Nacho has been heavily linked with a free move away from the club of his life this summer, but even if he does stay, Madrid will need better for the XI.

Militao and Alaba will be available for the start of the new campaign but it’s hard to gauge how they will perform off the back of such tough injuries.
Hence, the interest in Romero is logical. Romero is an elite right-sided center-back and would add serious quality defensively and on the ball.
Romero is Spanish speaking so theoretically wouldn’t have much issue setting in culturally.
The ball is in Spurs court, however. Romero has three years remaining on his contract and have no reason to sell. If Spurs are serious then any £ fee that doesn’t have 3 numbers will not be considered under any circumstances.
Unless a lucrative offer comes in, Spurs selling their best defender would be a serious backward step and a clear lack of ambition.
