Tottenham come from behind to secure needed 3-1 victory over Brentford
By Tom Vinall
Tottenham Hotspur welcomed fellow London side Brentford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in what felt like a "must-win game" despite only being in September.
Ange went with the following lineup for the task at hand; Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van De Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son.
It was the nightmare start, as Bryan Mbuemo fired in for the visitors after 22 seconds, the exact same time they had taken the lead at the Etihad last week.
The lead was short-lived, however. After around eight minutes, Maddison had a shot blocked that fell kindly to Solanke from close range, and the striker had his first goal in Tottenham Hotspur colours.
Spurs consistently managed to create chances in the first half, with Son, Johnson, Udogie and Johnson, and Porro all having efforts in the first 26 minutes. They would be rewarded for their persistence on 28 minutes, as Son teed up Johnson to make it two goals in two for the Welshman this week after having a tough time of it of late.

Ange's side continued to cause problems for their visitors, and Solanke had a good chance to get his second of the game from close range but was denied by Mark Flekken. Kulusevski, Porro, and Johnson had attempted in the final stages of the first half, as well as Mbuemo for the visitors, as Spurs went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Eight minutes into the second half and Solanke could have had another goal but was again denied by Flekken inside the box. Johnson then had another couple of efforts from close range, as Spurs tried hard to get that third goal. After 63 minutes, Bentancur replaced Bissouma.
After 68 minutes, Kevin Schade had the visitors' most presentable chance of the half from a set piece but was denied by Vicario. With twenty minutes to go, Sarr replaced Johnson.
Five minutes from time, Maddison made it three goals and three points for Spurs after a quick break. Captain Son got his second assist of the game as he teed up Maddison to fire into the roof of the net with a left-footed strike.
It will be very encouraging to see how well Spurs saw the game out, considering their defensive issues. The aforementioned effort from Schade on 68 minutes was Brentford's final shot of the game, and only their sixth of the entire game.
The very highly thought of Mikey Moore came on to replace Solanke after 88 minutes in a triple change which saw Bergvall replace Maddison and Gray replace Porro. Three subs for the future, there's no doubt about that.
Spurs had 3.51xG, six big chances, and 23 shots compared to Brentford's 0.58xG, two big chances, and six shots. A superb, and much-needed, team performance and win.
Next up for Spurs is a home game against Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night.
