Tottenham chooses Harry Kane's successor, potentially at £38 million price tag
Tottenham Hotspur appears to have set its sights on Santiago Gimenez as the man to fill the void left by Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich last summer.
The Mexican has a market value of 45 million euros, which translates to about £38 million, according to the specialized portal Transfermarkt.
Despite making some big signings under manager Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have yet to find a like-for-like replacement for their former captain, who left behind an impressive record of 280 goals and 62 assists in 435 appearances across all competitions.
According to reports from Rudy Galetti on social media platform X (h/t football.london), Gimenez has emerged as Tottenham's top target in the attacking department.
The 22-year-old Mexican international has been earning rave reviews for his performances with Dutch side Feyenoord, having netted an impressive 24 goals in 38 games this season, with 21 of those coming in the Eredivisie.
Gimenez's contributions were instrumental in Feyenoord's title-winning campaign last season, and it's no surprise that he has attracted the attention of several clubs, including Tottenham.

However, if a deal for Gimenez fails to materialize, Tottenham has identified Albert Gudmundsson as a potential alternative.
The 26-year-old Icelandic striker has been catching the eye with his performances for Genoa in Serie A this season and is reportedly a target for league leaders Inter Milan. Tottenham is keeping a close watch on Gudmundsson as a backup option.
Both Gimenez and Gudmundsson are under contract at their respective clubs until 2027, indicating that any potential transfer negotiations could be complex.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Spurs will be eager to finalize their plans for bolstering their attacking options.
The prospect of landing a promising talent like Gimenez or securing a proven performer like Gudmundsson could provide Tottenham with the firepower needed to compete at the highest level next season.
