It was a fantastic afternoon for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as they dispatched their visitors Everton with an emphatic 4-0 victory.

Ange lined up with an uber-attacking line-up, opting for; Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van De Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Odobert.

Despite missing training late in the week, Everton central defender James Tarowski was passed fit to play in this one.

Spurs created numerous early chances, with Romero having two shots in the first ten minutes, the second forcing a good save from Jordan Pickford. Pickford then saved again, this time from international team-mate Maddison as Ange's side continued to rank up the pressure.

Johnson then went shot wide when well placed to score, with it being Spurs' fifth attempt in just 11 minutes of the game.

Bissouma did his chances of regaining the trust of Ange Postecoglou absolutely no harm 14 minutes into the game. Kulusevski jinked past a couple of players, before laying the ball off to Bissouma on the edge of the box, who curled the ball across his body when positioned centrally. A superb finish and Spurs had a 1-0 lead.

A little over 10 minutes later, captain Heung Min-Son got off the mark for the 24/25 season, catching Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on the ball and doubling Tottenham's advantage.

Vicario made a good save from Everton substitute Jesper Lindstrom around the hour mark, in the visitors' first shot on target in the game.

Back to winning ways for Tottenham

It was a slow start to the second half for Spurs, taking twenty-two minutes to have a shot, as Maddison fired a free-kick wide.

Just before that, Ange made his first two substitutions, introducing Richarlison for Odobert and Pape Sarr for Kulusevski, in an attempt to wrestle back some momentum.

It worked perfectly, as on 71 minutes, a Maddison corner was met by Romero, who thumped a header home for 3-0 and three points secured.

A couple of minutes later, Gray replaced Bissouma and Spence replaced Udogie, who looked injured, so hopefully nothing serious there

Van De Ven showed how rapid he is, driving through the Everton side before picking out Heung Min-Son to make it two for him and four for Spurs with 13 minutes of normal time to go.

Not long after, Bergvall replaced Maddison who left the field to a standing ovation after a superb performance, and a second consecutive game with an assist to start the season.

Four goals, three points, and a cleah sheet for Spurs, it couldn't have been a much more productive afternoon. The clean sheet comes as a very welcome boost, given the consistent defensive issues over the last year or so.
