Spurs striker departs for AZ Alkmaar

It has been confirmed that Spurs' 22-year-old forward Troy Parrott has left the club for AZ Alkmaar on a permanent deal.
Parrott departs for a fee of £6.7m, with Spurs holding a 20% sell-on clause, per the ever-reliable Alasdair Gold.
Regardless of a healthy sell-on clause, the fee does seem a bit low when you consider some of the fees being thrown around in today's game. Ipswich Town have just paid £15m + £5m in add-ons, who has a modest, at best, goalscoring record in the Championship.
Parrott had a few unfruitful loans in the Championship himself but had a good record at Excelsior in the Eredivisie last season. He scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 25 regular season games (18 starts), before scoring 7 goals and adding a further assist in four relegation play-off games, which wasn't enough to save Excelsior from the drop to the Dutch second tier.

He also scored in a friendly vs Hungary for the Republic of Ireland, ending the visitors 14 game unbeaten streak. It felt like Parrott's stock had never been higher, yet Spurs have only managed to get a £6.7m fee.
Another point is that Spurs have lost another homegrown player in a summer where they desperately need them. Of course, it was always unlikely for Parrott to have a future in the first team. But when you have a homegrown asset with his stocks as high as they've ever been, it is pivotal that you get as much money as you possibly can for them. It doesn't feel like Spurs have done that.
It's only mid-July, it is not like Spurs had to sell now for a modest fee or not get anything at all, they could have easily tried to lure teams into a bidding war.
In any case, good luck Troy!
