Jamie Donley and his Leyton Orient counterparts traveled to the West Midlands to face Shrewsbury Town, in a battle between two sides who had both lost all of their three opening league games to start the 24/25 League One season.

Orient were fresh from what was seen at the time as a confidence boosting win away to Championship side Millwall in the Carabao Cup second round, but it did them no good in Shropshire as their hosts ran out as comfortable 3-0 victors in the end.

The on loan Spurs youngster played the whole 90 minutes, but along with the rest of Richie Wellens side, was unable to make an impact on the game. He lost the ball 20 times, won 1/5 ground duels, 0/2 dribbles, just one shot, and had 0/7 accurate crosses.

These sorts of games will happen for such a young player, of course. He did show his tenacious side with two clearances, one interception, and one tackle despite playing in the number ten role. A down game is fine, and to be expected, but you just hope Wellens will give him the opportunity to stay in the team after bad games, with the collective to think about as well.

Four defeats from four league games for Donley and Orient

Fellow Spurs youngster Josh Keeley, who has also joined the League One side, thought this game was too soon for the Irish keeper to be involved in the matchday squad.

Four games in, Orient are bottom of the league and the only side to not have taken even a single solitary point. Despite that, they are only one win from rising as far as 19th in the League.

It already feels a tad frustrating that he did not move to high-spending, high-flying Birmingham City under former Spurs coach Chris Davies, having been linked earlier in the window. That said, he may not have got the same regular minutes there.

Next up for Donley, and hopefully, Keeley, is a game in the Bristol St Motors trophy, at home to Arsenal U21s, where no doubt both players will be hoping to play and make an impact. Donley may not be included, with Wellens' mind no doubt on the task at hand in the League. Though, that would show a sign of importance for Donley in the Orient setup.

Meanwhile, it feels like the perfect chance to integrate Josh Keeley into the side.
