In League Two, Spurs loanee George Abbott and his Notts County side were in League Two action, as they hosted Port Vale who made the trip across the Midlands.

For the first time since his first game for the club, Abbott was named amongst the substitutes for this game. No doubt a sensible move, considering the amount of minutes the teenager has been playing in senior football against very physical players.

Abbott did come on as a half time substitute in any case, replacing former Spurs academy player Nick Tsaroulla, as manager Stuart Maynard tried to wrestle the game back in his sides favour after Vale went into the break a goal to the good.

It wasn't to be, however, as the Magpies fell to defeat, with that first half Vale goal being enough to secure all three points at Meadow Lane. This result means Notts have only won one of their last four outings in League Two, and have lost back-to-back games at home.

The cameo from Abbott was fairly nondescript and unassuming, although he did go close to an equaliser three minutes from time following a set piece situation as Notts piled on the pressure.

Despite the defeat, Notts still find themselves in a fairly good position, sitting in 5th place with 18 points from 10 games, above todays opponents Vale on goal difference. As a result of the tightness of the League Two table, they are just one point off top spot, and with their goal difference - would have gone top of the league with even just a draw today.

Next up for Notts County is a Bristol St Motors trophy clash with Northampton Town on Tuesday night, after playing in the competition for Spurs U21s already this season. As a result of the international break, Abbott is the only Spurs loanee in action next weekend, as his side make the short trip to Chesterfield for a 12:30 kick off in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
