With the return of club football after the September international break, came the return of La Liga. Alejo Veliz and Bryan Gil were in action for Espanyol and Girona respectively, let's see how they got on.

Alejo Veliz's Espanyol recorded a 3-2 win over Deportivo Alaves to make it back-to-back wins, after Veliz's late winner in the game that proceeded to the international break.

The Argentine forward made his fifth start in a row, though it was a less productive game than the aforementioned win before the break. Veliz was substituted after 57 minutes, having failed to make much of an impact on the game. He had one completed pass and two offsides in his time on the pitch and missed an opta-defined big chance with a header nine minutes into the game.

Round up of the weekend for Spurs' two La Liga loanees

This win lifts Espanyol up to 9th in the League, bouncing back superbly well after two defeats from two to start the season. Next up for Veliz and his counterparts is a huge game away to Real Madrid on Saturday night, with kick-off being 20:00 BST, 15:00 ET.

As for Girona, it was a much tougher afternoon for Gil and his counterparts, against a much tougher opponent. Girona lost 4-1 at home to high-flying Barcelona, who had won all four of their league games before this encounter. Despite starting off the left so far this season, Gil was deployed on the right-hand side of Michel's 4231 this afternoon. The on-loan Spurs man also missed an opta-defined big chance whilst his side were 2-1 down. He was replaced after 54 minutes.

It doesn't get much easier than that, either. Next up for Gil and Girona is a second consecutive game against a side who have won all four of their league games, as they take on PSG at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, in their first-ever Champions League game. Kick-off is 20:00 BST, 15:00 ET.
