Spurs loan watch: Productive debut for Tottenham midfielder
By Tom Vinall
Young Tottenham Hotspur midfielder George Abbott made his debut for Notts County this afternoon after the League Two side secured his services on loan for the season earlier this week.
Abbott was named amongst the substitutes for County's trip to Swindon Town, as the Magpies secured an impressive 2-1 victory with a winner 10 minutes from time.
Just two minutes later after the veteran David McGoldrick scored his and County's second of the game to, complete the turnaround, Abbott was introduced to the action for just his second-ever appearance in senior men's football, replacing the injured Daniel Crowley.
In just eight minutes plus stoppage time, the midfielder registered; one interception, one tackle, one chance created, and a 1/1 ground duel won, as he helped his new side get the win over the line.

With the victory, Stuart Maynard's side have risen to 7th in League Two, the final play-off position, with eight points, having won two games in a row to back up their two draws to begin the season.
Finally, at the end of the game, there was a lovely moment. The aforementioned goalscoring hero David McGoldrick convinced a clearly shy Abbott to go over to the away end. A little reluctantly, he went over and gave three fist clenches in tune with the atmosphere they were creating in the away end. No doubt whatsoever that that moment made Abbott feel 10 feet tall, and it was a class bit of leadership from a very experienced pro in McGoldrick.
There is no international break in League One and Two (unless a team has three international call-ups, where they can have the game postponed), so, as it stands, the next game for Abbott and his new counterparts is a game at home to Accrington Stanley next Saturday, the 7th of September, Kick-off is 15:00 BST and 10:00 ET.
