Spurs loan watch: League One round up
By Tom Vinall
On Saturday afternoon, Matthew Craig's Barnsley, as well as Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley's Leyton Orient, were in League One action.
In the Lunchtime kick off, Craig and his Barnsley counterparts made the trip across Yorkshire to face Huddersield Town. The Spurs loanee was named in Darrell Clarke's starting XI, playing 87 minutes, but could not help his side from falling to defeat, as their hosts ended their four game losing run with a 2-0 win here after two late goals.
This result leaves Barnsley in 11th place in League One, below their Yorkshire counterparts on goal difference - with 15 points from 10 games.
Elsewhere, Keeley was once again not named in the matchday squad for Orient, with the maximum amount of six loans in the matchday squad used with other players. Donley was named in the starting XI, playing 81 minutes. The midfielder had 28 touches, created one chance, completed 3/3 long balls, had a shot blocked, and made two clearances in a fairly unassuming display, as Orient fell to a 2-1 defeat.
This defeat leaves Orient in 19th place in League One, five points below Bristol Rovers in 18th. That too, and the two sides directly below them could go ahead of them and leave Orient in the relegation zone, should they win their game in hand each on them.
Next up for Barnsley is the exact same fixture as today, as they once again travel to Hudderfield in the Bristol St Motors trophy on Tuesday night. It will be the last game for 11 days, as their home game against Reading has been postponed due to international call ups.
Meanwhile, Orient are also in Bristol St Motors trophy action on Tuesday night, as they host Colchester United. It is also their last game for 11 days, as their home game, ironically against Huddersfield, has also been postponed for international call ups. On that note, Josh Keeley has been called up to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad, so will not get a chance for some minutes on Tuesday night - though could with Ireland.
