All four nations that have a Spurs player in their squad have now played their first game at this summer’s European Championship in Germany.

Guglielmo Vicario watched on from the bench as his Italy side came from behind to beat neighbours Albania in Group B, having gone behind in the first 30 seconds of the game, which set a record for the fastest ever European Championship goal.

Defender Micky Van De Ven was a late sub for Manchester City player Nathan Ake, playing the final 9 minutes (including injury time) to help see out The Netherlands hard fought 2-1 victory over Poland in Group D.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg played 84 minutes in Denmark’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Slovenia in Group C. The Spurs midfielder was unable to make it three goals in his last three international games, despite having a chance from a set piece.

Most impressively of all, however, Spurs defender Radu Dragusin played the entire 90 minutes in Romania’s shock 3-0 victory over Ukraine. Dragusin made 10 clearances, blocked 2 shots, made an interception, and won all 3 of his duels in a monster display. (SofaScore). His box defending was absolutely imperious and helped out in a seriously impressive team victory that will all but secure their place in the round of 16.

Vicario’s Italy next face Spain in a mouthwatering clash on Thursday, Van De Ven’s Netherlands face off against France on Friday night, Højbjerg‘s Denmark will play England on Thursday in a must-win game and Dragusin’s Romania will play against Belgium on Saturday.
