Son Heung-min reacts to 'tough' match against Luton
Once again, Son Heung-min came to the rescue for Tottenham, giving the North London side a dramatic win over Luton Town this Saturday. Spurs had to fight harder than expected to pull off the win and collect a crucial three points that will keep their Champions League chances alive.
Following the match and his game-winning shot, the Korean forward shared his honest feelings on the hard-fought game that saw Tottenham first tie, and then take the lead, after going 1-0 down in the first half. Son admitted that it was tough, but the team stayed together to come out victorious at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"Very tough game, and very intense game. A little bit frustrated because we had a chance to score and make the game a little bit easier, but in the end we're happy to get three points after the international break and all the traveling and all the games. It was tough," the forward told SPURSPLAY after the match.
It took a lot more than expected for the Lilywhites to unlock the game. A surprising early goal from Luton with less than three minutes on the clock meant the team had to come from behind to win a game that looked favorable for them on paper.
Ange Postecoglou made some key changes to turn things around, directing the squad to a 2-1 win that keeps Tottenham within reach of the fourth position in the Premier League table.
An own-goal from Issa Kaboré in the 51st minute of the match tied the game for Spurs before Sonny hit a clutch shot inside the penalty area that gave his team the lead to the win in the 86th minute.
The fight for a Champions League spot is getting hotter every week, with Aston Villa keeping the rhythm as well after their 2-0 over Wolves today. Tottenham have 56 points, three less than Villa, with a game in hand on The Villains.
