Son has 'excelled' in 'big games', will be crucial against Arsenal
Since joining the club in 2015, Tottenham's captain has been known for providing the North London club with clutch performances (Transfermarkt). This season, that's continued to hold true.
Son Heung-min has consistently delivered in big moments for his fellow teammates clad in Lilywhite during Ange Postecoglou's first season in charge.
Back in September, the Korean footballer scored in Spurs' 2-1 victory over Liverpool (Transfermarkt). He also scored and added an assist in the back-and-forth 3-3 draw to Manchester City.
Most importantly, however, for the purposes of this weekend's fixture, is the fact that Sonny scored twice in Tottenham's last meet up with The Gunners, which ended in an even 2-2 draw (Transfermarkt).
This time around, things will be no different. It's likely that, if Spurs are to walk away with points from their clash with Arsenal at the weekend, they will need their club veteran to deliver a top-tier performance, just as he's done in the past.
In his most recent press conference, Postecoglou spoke on the winger's ability and role as a central leader at the club (Football.London).
"[For] at least two or three of our guys this will be their first experience of a home North London derby. You always lean on the guys who have been there, done that and excelled at that. Sonny has definitely done that," Postecoglou explained.
"He has been a big-game player for this football club for a long time and he's looking forward to it with the added responsibility this time as the captain. He's been outstanding for us all year and I know he is looking forward to the game," Ange added.
If Son's most recent message to fans is anything to go by, he's certainly ready to take it to Mikel Arteta and co. (Mirror).
For a young side like Tottenham's, senior experience is a premium asset, and though the team will look to collectively bring their best this Sunday, it's a quality which they'll rely on in their time of need.
