Potential return for former Tottenham winger?
By Tom Vinall
Alasdair Gold this week has confirmed that whilst no official approach has been made, Tottenham are keeping an eye on the Marcus Edwards situation at Sporting CP.
He also said that Sporting are understood to value the English winger at £15 million, and with Spurs having a 35% sell-on cut, this would take the initial base figure to around £9.75m. Gold also confirmed that Edwards would be happy to return to N17.
That said, Sporting will be conscious of the fact Spurs have this sell-on cut, so would surely charge Spurs the extra money for the initial fee so that it ends up at £15m, otherwise, they could just try and sell him to another club for the said £15m fee.
Marcus Edwards was born in Enfield, and spent 13 years at Spurs between 2006-2019, before joining Vitoria de Guimares on a permanent fee.
After a successful two-and-a-half-year stint, Edwards was snapped up by Sporting CP in January of 2022.

Potential return for former Tottenham winger?
Vitoria de Guimares purchased 50% of his economic rights when they signed him, and then sold those rights to Sporting during the transfer. This is why Spurs still have a sell-on clause despite Edwards moving on from Vitoria de Guimares.
Edwards struggled for game-time last season, starting just 15 league games in the 23/24 season, 12 fewer than the previous season. That said, in those 15 starts, he found the net 4 times and created 12 big chances, despite only averaging 52 minutes per game (SofaScore).
Edwards is a creative and dribbly left-footed right-winger, and would probably suit an Ange Postecgolu side. He is also homegrown and as mentioned above, wouldn't cost a fortune.
That said, quality Spurs can probably do better than a 25-year-old who can't nail down a starting spot even at his current club.
We will have to wait and see if anything more comes from these links.
