Today, the 27th of August marks six years since Spurs beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in an iconic moment in the club's recent history.

On this day: Spurs secure famous victory at Old Trafford

Spurs lined up with; Hugo Lloris; Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose; Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele; Dele; Lucas, and Harry Kane

Serge Aurier, Harry Winks, and Ben Davies came on as substitutes. The latter is the only player in the matchday squad who is still at the club now. Though Son was injured in this game.

Lloris is winding down at LAFC in the MLS. Trippier is at Newcastle, whilst Alderweireld and Vertonghen are both back home, at Royal Antwerp and Anderlecht respectively. Rose retired in 2022.

Dier is at Bayern Munich, whilst Dembele also retired a couple of years ago. Eriksen is at Manchester United, and Dele is training with Everton after his contract expired to try and prove his fitness.

Lucas is back at Sao Paolo after 11 years in Europe, meanwhile Kane is with Dier at Bayern Munich.

Aurier is at Galatasaray, whilst Winks is at Leicester City. As for the unused subs — Davinson Sanchez is with Aurier at Galatasaray, Michel Vorm and Fernando Llorente are retired, and Luke Amos is at Hibernian.

After a first half where Spurs were on the back foot, five minutes into the second half, Kane scored whilst leaning backward from a Trippier corner.

Just two minutes later, Eriksen ran in behind the United defence, and cut the ball back for Lucas to sweep home from around 15 yards out.

With 84 minutes on the clock, Kane found Lucas midway through the United half. The Brazilian forward carried the ball forward, and left Chris Smalling for dust, before having the composure to finish the one-on-one beyond David De Gea in the United goal.

It wasn’t quite as iconic as the 1-6 in 2020, where Jose Mourinho was in the away dugout rather than the home one, but at least this one silenced 70,000-ish United fans as Spurs put in a second half performance for the ages
