According to a recent report from Sport, Tottenham are looking into a potential move for 19-year-old youth academy defender Mika Faye.

Per the report, "Tottenham have been following him and in Spain, Girona are very interested in accessing him for the future. In France, Nice and Lens..."

Spurs completed defensive business this January with the addition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa, and though he arguably could have performed better in Tottenham's recent 3-0 loss to Fulham, the €25.00m (£21.4m) signing seems to have a lot of potential at the age of just 22.

In line with their recent practice of targeting young talent, a move for Faye is hardly surprising. The young defender has been attracting increasing interest from clubs across Europe, and was recently called up to the Senegal national team for the upcoming international break.

This season, Spurs have consistenly utilized the talents of Cristian Romero (23 starts) and Micky van de Ven (18 starts) at the center of the back line, at least, when they've been healthy. In their absences, Ben Davies has come in to make up the difference, and with Dragusin now at the club, Tottenham have a decent assortment of players to utilize at the back.

Nevertheless, with the injury crisis of November and December, and the defensive struggles on set pieces and against beatable opponents like Fulham, it makes sense why the club would be looking to expand their options.

With interest from other clubs, and anticipation around his recent national team call up, time will soon tell where Spurs stand amidst the latest transfer saga concerning Mika Faye.
