The 2023/24 season has been full of ups and downs for Tottenham, especially when it comes to injury. The North London side has seen Cristian Romero, James Maddison, and Micky van de Ven, among others, miss time due to injuries.

The young Dutch defender was the latest player to join this list after picking up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa during Tottenham's big 4-0 win earlier this month. He then sat out the game against Fulham, which ended with a painful loss for The Lilywhites.

Ahead of the Luton Town duel, Ange Postecoglou offered an update about van de Ven's status, announcing that the Dutchman would be available. Evidently, his presence on the bench proved he's good to go.

"All the internationals got through unscathed. They've come back all good. Micky was the one who missed the last game. He's trained the last couple of days and is available," Postecoglou told reporters Friday (Reuters).

The 22-year-old has become a key part of Tottenham's defense this campaign, forming a terrific trio with 'Cuti' Romero and Guglielmo Vicario. He's dealt with several injuries though, missing important time for Spurs.

If the club aspire to compete for a place in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, having a fully fit defense will be crucial for them. VDV knows he's key for this squad, even though Tottenham have a very capable defender in Radu Dragusin.

The win over Luton was a crucial one, as every game will matter from here onwards. Hopefully, in the coming week, the Dutch defender can get back onto the pitch and help Spurs take on West Ham on Tuesday.
