After Brighton beat Tottenham Hotspur in a five-goal thriller, a Liverpool legend was quick to take an unnecessary dig at Ange Postecoglou.

Just when things were looking good at Tottenham Hotspur, they suffered an unfortunate loss in the Premier League. After losing to Brighton, Ange Postecoglou will now have to sit through a gloomy international break.

The game at the weekend could have easily been won. In fact, Tottenham were two goals ahead inside the first half. It was the second half where they let their heads slip, conceding three goals to the Seagulls.

The truth is that ultimately, the home side made the most of their chances. Tottenham took more shots (13) than Brighton (11). However, Brighton had more big chances (3) than Tottenham (1).

It didn't take long for the media hounding to begin. In fact, Jamie Carragher led the way, by quickly firing an eight-word jibe at Ange Postecoglou, saying "seven days is a long time in football."

This was in response to last week's dig, where Jamie Carragher posted: "Ange’s Tottenham are a great watch, big they are also great to play against! If that doesn’t change, the manager eventually will."

Jamie Carragher has not called for Ange Postecoglou to be sacked. However, he has indicated that Tottenham must become harder to play against under him, otherwise there could be a managerial change.

It is a reality which Spurs fans are hesitant to admit. Unfortunately, despite the attacking football on display on most games, there is never a sense of safety.

Even with Tottenham being two goals up at half-time, Brighton still believed they could win the weekend's fixture, and they ultimately did.

However, Ange Postecoglou needs no reminding of his side's frailties. After all, he is his own harshest critic, so he will be blaming himself for not making Tottenham hard to beat.

Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou has already reminded his players of their own need to get the basics right. At the end of the day, only so much blame can be taken by the manager.

After the October international break, Tottenham face West Ham at home in the Premier League. Thankfully for Tottenham, their London rivals are in awful form.
