Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a busy summer of player movements. With two deals already secured, including the arrivals of Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner on loan, the North London club is poised for further activity as they reshape their squad under Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou, entering his second season at the helm, has made it clear that he plans to offload several players while also bringing in new talent. Among the names expected to depart is Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Hojbjerg, a key figure at Tottenham since his 2020 transfer from Southampton, saw his role diminish this past season. Starting only eight Premier League games, the midfielder now finds himself in the final year of his contract, likely seeking a new challenge, particularly if he impresses at Euro 2024.
Intriguingly, a familiar face has emerged as a potential suitor for Hojbjerg: former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho. Turkish journalist Ömer Çelikbaşlı reports that Mourinho, newly appointed as Fenerbahce's head coach, is keen to reunite with the player he once lauded as "phenomenal."
Negotiations between Fenerbahce and Tottenham are reportedly underway, with the Turkish club acting swiftly following Mourinho's appointment. Despite interest from clubs in Italy and Spain, Mourinho's admiration for Hojbjerg could give Fenerbahce an edge in securing his signature.

Hojbjerg's move to Tottenham four years ago was orchestrated by Mourinho, who saw the Dane as a perfect fit for his tactical setup. In December 2020, Mourinho praised Hojbjerg's intelligence, physical strength, and technical simplicity, describing him as a future coach and a key asset on the pitch.
"Pierre is, first of all, very intelligent. He reads the game very well. He’s going to be a coach one day, for sure,” Mourinho said. “He’s a pain, asking questions about why we do this and why we do that. On the pitch, he reads the situation very, very well and the people that surround him are really compact, they read the game.”
Given such high praise, it is no surprise that Mourinho is eager to bring Hojbjerg to Fenerbahce. However, whether the Dane is interested in a move to Turkey remains to be seen, especially with potential interest from other Premier League clubs as well as teams in Italy and Spain.
As Tottenham look to retool their squad, Postecoglou will likely facilitate Hojbjerg's departure if the right offer comes in. This summer promises to be a pivotal one for Spurs as they aim to build a team capable of competing at the highest level, with Hojbjerg's future being just one piece of the puzzle.
