James Maddison put on a masterclass performance in Tottenham's 3-1 victory over Brentford, much to the delight of Spurs fans. Since arriving from Leicester City in July 2023 for a fee of €60 million, Maddison has been one of the standout players in Ange Postecoglou's side.
His contract, which runs until 2028, is already proving to be a great investment for Tottenham, as the midfielder continues to play a crucial role in their campaign.
From the start of the season, Maddison has been threatening to produce a 10/10 display, and on Saturday, everything finally clicked into place. Playing in the centre alongside Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, Maddison orchestrated Tottenham's attacks with precision and flair.
Almost every dangerous move from Spurs came through the 27-year-old, as he repeatedly outmanoeuvred Brentford's defenders with his quick feet and sharp playmaking.
Brentford simply couldn’t cope with Maddison's creative drive. He constantly found pockets of space and effortlessly glided past his markers, providing the spark Tottenham needed in midfield.
His performance was capped off in the 85th minute when he scored his first goal of the season, a delightful chipped finish that secured the victory and eased any lingering nerves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Maddison’s guile, creativity, and freedom under Postecoglou’s system have made him a fan favourite. Playing on the left side of the midfield trio, he has formed a promising partnership with Kulusevski, as both players thrive in Postecoglou's fluid attacking setup.
For Spurs supporters, Maddison embodies the style and vision they love to see. His performance against Brentford showed that he’s not just settling in at Tottenham but thriving, with the promise of many more brilliant performances to come.
