Is Tottenham close to signing Toney?

As discussed earlier, we know that Postecoglou and the Spurs brass are looking to address their attack, particularly a striker. The club has been linked to several players, including Isak. Well, another possibility could be Brentford's Ivan Toney, and reports suggest that he could be had for as low as 40 million pounds this summer.

As great of a deal as that would be for Spurs, reports from earlier this year said that Toney's price tag would be closer to 60 million pounds. However, that was before he only scored four goals for the Bees after his return from a gambling-related suspension. With a year left on his current contract, the 40 million figure could be more likely.

It appears that the race for Toney may be between Spurs and rivals Manchester United. Yet Man U might undergo a coaching change, as the team's football-related decision-makers changed when INEOS bought into the club in January. If the price for Toney is indeed around 40 million, then the Lilywhites need to pounce ASAP once the window opens next week. Truth Meter: 6/10.
