5. Adel Taarabt (17 years, 9 months, 8 days)

Tottenham fans aren't going to like this one, but I'll get onto that.

At the age of 17 years old, Adel Taarabt was signed on loan from Lens and quickly handed his Premier League debut, as he came on as a sub against West Ham. Picking up your debut as a youngster in a London derby is not bad at all, but the comments he has made about Tottenham since he left is why he's remembered badly...

Reflecting on his move to Tottenham, Taarabt described the decision as a "mistake". In his own words: "This was a mistake and I regret it. Tottenham tried to do it like Arsenal but it's a different culture. I would have had a better chance at Arsenal. I would progress with Arsène Wenger. He is a legend in France, one of the best managers in the world."

However. Tottenham fans will take some remorse in knowing that Taarabt didn't quite live up to his expectations. He had a relatively okay career and is known as one of the best players to represent Queens Park Rangers but given the hype surrounding him as a youngster, signing for Tottenham might not be his only regret.
