England U17s fall to Italy, but not for lack of effort from Tottenham youth
Tottenham could be in for a wild summer of incoming and outgoing transfers, which in recent weeks has stirred the media and fans alike into a frenzy of speculation and excitement.
However, despite the possibility of acquiring new talent from outside the organization, this summer could also be an opportunity for Spurs to capitalize on player recruitment in a different sector: their youth academy.
Tottenham youth talent has been a growing talking point in recent weeks, and in large part that may be due to the astonishing performances of 16-year-old Mikey Moore.
Competing with the England U17 squad for the UEFA EURO competition, Moore has been unstoppable. Just a few days ago, he helped the squad qualify for the knock-out rounds of the competition with what can only be described as a "wonder goal."
Moore's team was recently knocked out of the competition by Italy in a match that went into penalties. However, it wasn't for lack of trying on Moore's part.
The Englishman assisted fellow teammate Ethan Nwaneri in just the 16th minute to give his side an early 1-0 lead, though Italy would go on to score 13 minutes later.
Moore also scored his penalty in the shootout after extra time, stepping up and taking the first strike amongst his teammates.
It was an unfortunate day for the young star, however, this tournament and past season only add to his resume as a rising professional.
Perhaps in the coming years or even months, the player's performances can catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou.
