Crystal Palace target still prefers a Tottenham transfer return
Marcus Edwards, the talented winger from Sporting CP, finds himself at the center of transfer speculations, with multiple Premier League clubs showing interest. Notably, Tottenham Hotspur, his former club, and Crystal Palace have emerged as potential destinations for the 24-year-old.
Edwards’ connection with Tottenham Hotspur runs deep. The London club initially nurtured his talent, and despite his move to Vitória Guimarães in 2019, Spurs secured a 50% sell-on fee. When he transferred to Sporting CP in 2022, Tottenham negotiated to maintain a more than 30% sell-on clause as part of the Pau Torres transfer. This financial stake makes Tottenham a perennial contender whenever Edwards is linked with a move.
According to Thursday’s edition of Record (h/t Sport Witness), Crystal Palace has expressed a keen interest in the winger. This interest is largely driven by their new manager, Oliver Glasner, who previously admired Edwards while managing Eintracht Frankfurt. Edwards would be available for a fee between €20-30 million, making him an attractive target for clubs looking to bolster their attacking options.
Despite the interest from Crystal Palace, the situation is not straightforward. Record reports that Edwards is ‘not particularly enticed’ by the prospect of moving to Palace. This suggests that while Glasner may be enthusiastic about bringing him to Selhurst Park, he will need to put in considerable effort to persuade the player.

Crystal Palace target still prefers a Tottenham transfer return
On the other hand, whenever Edwards is linked with a move back to Tottenham, the narrative shifts. It is widely reported that the winger would be enthusiastic about returning to his former club.
This sentiment is understandable, given his history with Spurs and the familiarity with the environment and some of the staff and players. Tottenham’s continued financial interest in Edwards also means they have a vested interest in facilitating his return.
Marcus Edwards’ decision will hinge on several factors. His playing time, the role he would be assigned, and the club’s ambitions will all play a part. Tottenham, with their larger stature and the ongoing project under Ange Postecoglou, might be more appealing for a player of Edwards’ caliber looking to compete at the highest levels.
Conversely, Crystal Palace could offer more guaranteed playing time and a crucial role under Glasner’s leadership, which could be a significant factor for Edwards as he considers his next career move.
