Cristian Romero backed by Ange, has an important task at Tottenham
Cristian Romero has been back in the Spurs' starting XI for the past two fixtures after previously serving a three match ban for a red card he picked up in early November.
Since he's been back he's had a solid impact, scoring Tottenham's only goal in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham and holding a strong back-line in the 4-1 win over Newcastle last weekend. However, fans were once again frustrated with the player after he made a harsh and unnecessary challenge on Newcastle striker Callum Wilson late into the match.
In his most recent press conference leading up to Spurs' next fixture against Nottingham Forest, Ange spoke about the expectations facing the player, knowing the types of challenges he's prone to make:
"It's fair to say the spotlight will be on him for the rest of the year because any challenge he does, something like the Chelsea game or the challenge last week, will be highlighted.
He understands that, he knows that, he just needs to make the adjustments that he needs to during the game."
However, as Ange continued to speak on the player, he delivered plenty of praise, referring to Romero's impact in the squad and how crucial he is to success in North London:
"I don't think it's a subject for long chats, it's pretty evident the impact that he has for us when he's playing and when he's not. We much prefer to have him out there."
The world cup winner has been especially important in the absence of starting defender Micky van de Ven, a summer signing from Wolfsburg who has flourished in the high intensity of the Premier League.
Romero will once again be crucial as Spurs take on Forest away, a club who hasn't won in their last five matches but has the prowess to beat teams like Aston Villa and Chelsea.
