After a disappointing start to the season, Tottenham turn their attention to a less-pressurised EFL Cup match. Here are 3 Spurs players that can be the difference against Coventry.

Ange Postecoglou is in the limelight for all the wrong reasons right now. The Aussie boss insists that he always win trophies in his second season, which is a fact, but he hasn't made the best start to 2024/25.

Such is the nature of football, form comes and goes. However, even saying this feels like the standards at Tottenham are at an all-time-low. After all, look at Man City, who have yet to experience bad form this season.

Anyway, Tottenham will hope to progress in the EFL Cup, as it presents a good opportunity for Postecoglou to win silverware. Here are 3 Tottenham players that can be the difference vs Coventry.

1. Archie Gray

Tottenham's luxurious summer signing Archie Gray has barely touched grass this season. While nobody expected him to be a starter from the offset, his time must surely be coming.

So, Gray will be thankful for an opportunity to impress in the EFL Cup. He will be facing familiar opposition in Coventry, a team he faced last season in the Championship.

Gray is an excellent, dynamic midfielder who oozes maturity at a young age. A lot of the play will run through Gray, so he could be a keen difference-maker against the EFL Cup opposition.

2. Radu Dragusin

For Tottenham, anything is better than what was on display at the weekend. It goes without saying that it was a defensive mistake which cost them the North London Derby, with Cristian Romero largely to blame.

So, Ange Postecoglou will look forward to a defensive reset. After an impressive summer with Romania, Dragusin could be handed his second start of the season.

He is yet to start alongside Micky van de Ven this season, so it could be an interesting avenue for Postecoglou to explore and it would afford Cristian Romero a rest from action before this weekend.

3. Fraser Forster

Guglielmo Vicario's place between the sticks is cemented in big matches. So, this isn't a dig towards him. However, it will be refreshing to have an assured veteran between the sticks for Tottenham.

Fraser Forster has rode this rodeo on many occasions, being one of the most notable English goalkeepers of this generation.

Ageing at 36 years old, Forster could be in line for his first start this season. He will be the cup-keeper of choice for Ange Postecoglou this season, so he'll be eager to keep a clean sheet against Coventry.
